If i could start this semester over

Experiencing this first semester of college I have realized that it is very tough to go to college full time and work full time. If I would have known how hard it was I probably would have chosen something different, like maybe online, or community college. I just moved out on my own and everything happening at once is very difficult and stressful.

I am afraid to let my family down by being a college drop out even though I do not need college for my career. So many choices to make!

Future Career

I am a HUGE adrenaline junky!! That is the reason why I am going for a career a police officer. The thrill of chasing and catching criminals excites me! Also my father was a policeman and I was raised on doing things right. I want to help the community. I want to make sure everyone is safe.
I am not one that likes slow paced, office work. I want to be out and about.

I know to have this career you must be at least 21 years old. This is because you have to carry a gun. There is not any further education needed beyond college, but I want to be the best out of anyone to better my chances of scoring the job.

I just can't wait to get going!! :))

Diversity in college

Diversity in College is very important for everyone's future. It does not matter what career field you go in, you will encounter different races and cultures. Being exposed to different people in college will prepare you for when you are exposed to them out in the real world. You can learn and understand different cultures from experience.
Also, you may find yourself interested in a different culture. You may find the Indian culture fascinating and maybe move to India to be a doctor. Being exposed to diversity early in your life will prepare you on how to act when you see something abnormal to American cultures.

Financial Literacy

You must understand financial literacy while going to college to keep yourself less stressful. Times could be hard. If you are a commuter you have to manage your money so you have gas to get to and from school. Also you will be spending most of your time on campus so you need to think about what you are going to eat. Do you need to budget so you can eat on campus? Also paying student loans back will be tough. Everyone should ask help on the best ways to start paying loans. College cost a lot of money. People need to be well educated in how to keep from paying more than what they need to.

Primary and Secondary Research/Sources

 Primary and Secondary research sources are mutually beneficial to college students because they allow them to get a wide variety of information. You can use the usual book or internet to get information, but what about a scholarly journal. You could find extra information that maybe would not be show on the internet. This could make your paper stand out.

Change

Any one person can effect change. You just have to be passionate about it and engage yourself. You have to act on something that you see needs a change. You can change someone's life by doing something little, or big.

An example from the book Outcasts United would be that the main character Luma saw something that needed change. She saw that boys from war torn countries need something to look forward to. They moved to the United States and were very poor. She saw that she had more than what she needed and decided to help them. She started a soccer team and helped them do better in school. She also helped their families by starting a company that the boys' mothers could work at.

You don't have to do something as big as Luma to make change. All you have to do is start. Start somewhere.

community engagement

I believe community engagement is very import, but I do not do as much of it as I should. I see community engagement as doing things for others, without pay, to help someone. This could be anywhere between volunteering and Rivers and Spires for the kids zone, and donating food for a homeless shelter.

When i do a community engagement project it usually has something to do with helping children or someone who is need of food or shelter. I like donating supplies, food, clothing, and all kinds of things because I know that I have more than what I need when others are suffering. Sometimes I will donate money to organizations that are trying to fund diseases for children. I only reason why I say sometimes is because I am not actually sure if my money is going toward the need that is said.

I feel like if you have more than what you need, you should help your community to support those that do not have enough.
